What is WAR in baseball?

WAR means Wins Above Replacement: a family of baseball value estimates designed to summarize how many wins a player contributes compared with a readily available replacement-level player.

Why baseball fans use WAR

WAR gives fans a single way to discuss total player value while still acknowledging hitting, baserunning, defense, position, pitching, and playing time. Different public systems can use different inputs and produce different totals.

WAR Maxxing uses Sim WAR

Sim WAR is a game-specific deterministic simulation score inspired by baseball value concepts. It is not official MLB WAR, FanGraphs WAR, Baseball-Reference WAR, or a forecast for any real player.

How the game uses it
