Build the arsenal first
Take high-quality distinct pitch types early. You cannot double up, and a strong second through fourth pitch lifts the game’s Arsenal Score.
Protect command and contact
K/9 is only one part of the result. BB/9, HR/9, and Contact Management keep runs off the board and work with pitch quality.
Stamina creates the workload
A dominant reliever-style build can miss the innings needed for a major Sim WAR total. Do not wait too long to address stamina.
